The final league game of the season is upon us as Brian Dutton and his side prepare for the trip to the eastern side of the capital to take on Welling United.

Salisbury’s survival hopes are still (mostly) in their own hands, for a full rundown of all the scenarios, check out this article here – https://www.salisburyfc.co.uk/league-calculations-and-permutations/

In the first meeting between these two sides this season, Salisbury ran out 3-1 winners at the Ray Mac just before Christmas. Two goals from Noah Coppin, either side of Jordan Ragguette’s, sealed the victory at the Ray Mac.

The two sides now come together for the final game of the season, Welling already relegated and The Whites hoping to confirm their survival in the Vanarama National League South.

Both sides are on a poor run of form, picking up four points each over the last four matches – Welling are without a win in five matches, since they stunned Worthing with a 2-0 win at the back end of March.

In their last match, Welling were beaten 5-1 by Chelmsford City with goals from Charlie Ruff (2), Ruaridh Donaldson, Freddie Hockey and Archie Tamplin, ensuring that Josh Redfearn’s second-half strike for the Wings didn’t mean a great deal.

Welling United manager Brian Statham felt the game summed up their season:

Salisbury, on the other hand, faced one of the in-form sides in the league in the shape of title-chasing Eastbourne Borough on Monday afternoon.

Eastbourne kept their title chances alive with a narrow, hard-fought victory at the Ray Mac, beating Dutton’s depleted side by a single goal. Michael Klass scored the only goal of the game mid-way through the second half to make Salisbury’s last game of the season as nervy as possible.

Brian Dutton was pleased with his side’s performance despite the defeat:

Salisbury FC Supporters Club have announced that their coach is now full, and it looks like Whites Supporters will travel to Welling United in good numbers to lend their voices and support to the players on the pitch and the management team in the dugout.

Salisbury will be wearing the Sky Blue away shirt, against Welling United.

Supporters who are not able to travel for the game can listen to full match coverage with Andy Munns, Ian Pearson and Toby Pike on Salisbury Radio Sport. Coverage will start earlier than usual at around 2:15 with all the build-up, live commentary and post-match reaction.
