On Saturday, Salisbury travel to Hertfordshire to face playoff-chasing Boreham Wood at the Mangata Pay UK Stadium.
Boreham Wood are on what their chairman calls an ‘alarming slide’ as they have slipped away from chances of winning the title and automatic promotion back to the Vanarama National League.
Their form is currently that of a mid-table team with four defeats in their last six matches with losses against Truro City, Weymouth, Dorking and Maidstone United.
The last of those was a four-nil defeat on the road to Maidstone United. Stones ran out as comfortable winners at the Gallagher Stadium with goals from Sol Wanju-Smith x 2, Ben Brookes and George Fowler.
Wood manager Luke Garrard was guarded in his post match interview, but was clearly disappointed with the performance:
The result leaves Boreham Wood seventh in the table, which is the final play-off position with a two-point advantage over Weston-super-Mare, who have been narrowing the gap over the last few games.
Salisbury have been in slightly better form over the last six games, with two wins, two draws and two defeats meaning Brian Dutton’s side have picked up eight points from those six matches. Two more than Boreham Wood.
After defeat away at Truro City, The Whites returned to winning ways on Saturday with a two-nil victory over Tonbridge Angels at the Ray Mac.
A first half goal from Dan Fitchett, his 100th for Ray Mac based clubs, set Salisbury on their way and Ronan Silva scored late on to make the final few minutes of the game less nervy for all.
Brian Dutton paid huge respect to his players for the performance under the circumstances which they faced:
The win maintains Salisbury’s buffer of four points to the relegation zone, with St Albans also winning – but it did lift them one place above Enfield Town as the battle to stay in the league continues.
For supporters unable to travel to the game, full commentary will be on Salisbury Radio Sport with Ian and Andy. Segregation
This fixture will operate under full segregation.
Visiting supporters
Visiting supporters to the Mangata Pay UK Stadium Meadow Park will be located at the South End of the ground, accessible via turnstiles 9 & 10, where there is an allocation for up to 1,250 spectators; this allocation is made up on 359 covered seats in our West Stand (operating on a first come first serve basis), whilst the remainder is made up of uncovered standing along the South and South East terraces.
Visiting supporter toilet facilities are located in the South West corner of the Stadium, whilst catering/refreshments are available from the middle of our South terrace via our Stadium catering partners.
Car parking & club house usage
Limited supporter parking is available at the Mangata Pay UK Stadium Meadow Park with the club car park prioritised for players, directors, officials and guests.
We advise supporters coming to the Stadium to park in Brook Road Public Car Park. Access to the Stadium is available from this car park via the South Stand Turnstiles (turnstiles 9 & 10 for visiting supporters) or via a public footpath through the adjacent park (turnstiles 1 to 6 for home supporters.) Please note that parking charges may apply.
Alternative parking is also available via the Hertsmere Council Civic Car Park, which is less than a 5-minute walk to ground. Again, please note parking charges may apply.
Unfortunately, due to our segregation policy and with the club house being located in the home section of the Stadium, our club house is for home supporters only on match days. Visiting supporters are advised to use the facilities in the town centre just a short walk away from the Stadium. For home supporters using Brook Road Car Park, who wish to use the club’s bar facilities, this is a short walk via a public footpath through the adjacent park.
